Don’t forget about you in the lead up to Christmas

December has begun and as with every year, you would have to work hard to avoid all things Christmas.

The festive season can be stressful, as gentle (and not so gentle) demands are made of individuals to achieve or deliver the ‘perfect’ Christmas, if there is such a thing. And let’s not forget that Christmas and the festive season, and New Year celebrations, are not enjoyed by all, indeed the opposite. This was implied by one large High Street retailer’s TV advertisement that was panned by many critics for rejecting many aspects of the Christmas season that families and friends enjoy together. Most of the other retailers have (successfully) gone with the traditional theme and I am sure this will be reflected in the sales results announced in January.

Stress, in all its formats, and for the many personal reasons that it is caused, can manifest itself in physical symptoms. This might be by the tightening of muscle tissues, and muscular or skeletal discomfort and pain as examples. Not the best at any time of year, especially during the festive period and New Year where you may want to be enjoying more free time.

Our blog readers will know that we are advocates of keeping a careful eye on your own wellbeing throughout the year, and particularly during the winter months when the cold, damp and potentially reduced exercise routine might be more prevalent than the spring and summertime. Massage, reflexology and physiotherapy offer significant benefits in helping you to remain flexible and mobile, perhaps needed during the ‘party’ season.

So, don’t forget about all things ‘you’ and keep an eye out for signs of discomfort. We will be available up to the Christmas break and of course in the New Year to help with your physiotherapy, massage and reflexology requirements.
